Sold Unreserved On Location And No Additions
At Their ca. 1800 Cape Cod House At The Crossroads
Just Off Highway 103, Exit 11
The Buechlers were well-known in the Province as dealers in country antiques and Larry specialized in clocks. They first established themselves in West Nictaux and moved on to Windsor, finally coming to Blockhouse in 1983. Larry passed away nine years ago and Ruby followed him just a few weeks ago. Because I knew them well, respected them as dealers, and they were also my neighbors, I felt I had to do this auction and am honored to be disbursing their fine collection. It’s obvious that some of the pieces were collected in the Annapolis Valley area and, of course, much of it from Lunenburg County. According to their children, they really enjoyed living in Lunenburg County.
As we only had a couple of days to photograph the pieces that you see here, they do nor represent by any means all that is in the auction. In fact, we intentionally made a number of composite pictures to give you a general idea of the quality of things being offered. As far as I can tell, the pieces illustrated are in honest condition. A few good pieces that had minor restorations, we chose not to illustrate. Fortunately, there is just enough room in the backyard of the homestead to hold the auction. I highly recommend anyone serious about the merchandise to be sold should come to the preview on Friday. The preview is for you, the customer. It gives you the opportunity to examine the pieces you’re interested in in a leisurely fashion without people bumping into you. It gives you some time to think about what you care most about and the opportunity to sleep on your reactions. The Friday preview will take place in the house, in situ.

THOUGHTS ON ANOTHER SUBJECT
Now that The Maritime Antique Dealers & Services Guide appears to have folded, we wonder if there would be enough interest among dealers here in Lunenburg County for producing a similar, but more modest pamphlet, as a way of helping people find their way to you. We all know that the antiques business is getting harder.
Charlotte McGill has volunteered her services to produce such a brochure, but only if we can get almost complete support from all of the people who are in the business of selling antiques and used articles who have a shingle out here in Lunenburg County. To produce such a brochure would require very little financially. What the project would require is some people to come forward to help with signing ups the sellers and ultimately distributing the product. If no one comes forward, nothing will.
If you would be interested in helping in this process, it is important for you to contact Charlotte to see it become a reality. If you are only interested in having your business promoted with the other people from the County and want to know what’s required of you, you must also make contact with Charlotte. It’s only in a combination of the two things above that will make this work.
